A self-described Army brat, Jim Hill was born in Germany and lived in Hawaii and California before his family settled in South Florida. He enjoyed scuba diving, surfing, fishing and everything to do with the salt life. Upon graduating high school, he decided to continue in the family tradition and joined the US Air Force. He was assigned to Anderson Air Force Base on the island of Guam in the South Pacific where he continued to enjoy the watersports he loved while serving his country.

After six years of honorable service Jim separated to rejoin the civilian world and returned to South Florida. As a veteran, he quickly found employment in the booming electronic manufacturing industry. He also owned and operated a sportfishing guide service out of Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach. After a few years back in the civilian world, Jim married and moved to Stuart in 1995. With his first child on the way, he took a weekend job as Harbor Master of a local 150-slip marina. This enabled him to increase his product knowledge while also fine tuning his customer service and communication skills needed to be successful in the marine sector. It wasn’t long before Jim started connecting buyers and sellers as Harbor Master which resulted in an offer to sell yachts for the marina’s yacht brokerage firm in 1997.

Jim also broadened his scope in the marine industry by securing his USCG 200-Ton Master license. This was where his knowledge and ability to serve his customers really took hold. He has operated and delivered his clients’ yachts up and down the eastern seaboard from Maine to Key West as well as throughout the Caribbean and Europe.

Joining United Yacht Sales in the spring of 2023, Captain Jim brings over 25 years of yacht sales and yachting industry experience to the ever-growing list of successful brokers at the firm. As an avid lifetime water sportsman and captain, Jim is ready and able to help you in your search for the perfect yacht for your intended use. He will also work through

his client base and vast network of associates in the industry to sell the yacht you currently own.

No matter what type of vessel you are buying or selling, you can be sure that captain Jim’s experience and attention to detail will make the process enjoyable and as seamless as possible.

If someone says “you fish too much”, stop talking to them.

You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life!
