THIS BEAUTIFUL BOAT

2020 Island Spirit 38Originally laid up in the early 2000's when boats were properly built, this vessel is probably one of the most complete and beautiful examples of these well regarded solidly built Blue water cats around.

SAIORSE was discovered as a Hull Deck and Bulkheads by their current owners in a Cape Town suburb... the languishing 'perhaps project' of her second owner. The second owner had owned her for seven years after he bought her from an insurance company following a claim. Second owner just didn't have the time or the wherewithal to complete her.

Current owners bought her and then spent the best part of two years hand building and recreating her from scratch with pretty much everything new that matters.

The family of five crossed from South Africa via St Helena and South America and are currently wending their way down to Trinidad for a haul for the hurricane season.

Current plans to continue sailing have changed somewhat so SAOIRSE is for sale.

I cannot imagine any other similar vessel being so well equipped with so much recent gear on her.

Truly a 'once-in-a-life-time' opportunity.

From the owners:

Saoirse was originally laid up in the early 2000's when boats were really built properly. She is currently registered as a 2020 total rebuild, unless otherwise stated, everything was new when fitted to the boat and commissioned in 2019/2020 unless otherwise stipulated.

For her size, she is a super spacious, fully equipped cruiser ready to go. Very comfortable blue water boat, she bought us comfortably across the Atlantic from Cape Town, via Brazil in 2022. Island spirits are known to have very spacious cockpit and saloon areas with a lot of seating. The galley is a very good design with a good amount of storage. There are large sliding doors between cockpit and saloon opening up the exterior to interior living area.

Maybe your turn to get lucky? Bring your clothes and go sailing.

Two known issues:

1) The motor on the Raymarine Type 1 short arm linear drive for the autopilot needs replacing.

2) The touch screen plotter works just fine but the screen has faded. Owners have it bluetoothed to a tablet and it works. At some point this must be upgraded

Having started in the aircraft industry as an apprentice engineer in the mid seventies, the progression to sailboats was natural. Arriving in the Caribbean in 1981 for the first time, I was hooked on the beauty and the lifestyle. It took me more than 10 years back home to afford and rebuild my first yacht, which, after having sailed across from Africa in the early nineties, has been our permanent home. After chartering and being involved in almost all the aspects of the marine industry for over fourty years, we now have a family and don't do charters anymore.... we still have the boat though!

Having started in the aircraft industry as an apprentice engineer in the mid-seventies, the progression to sailboats was natural.

First trip to the Caribbean was in 1980 and have been here permanently since 1994 as a charter captain and refit engineer.

When we had a family I started the brokerage business after a rather disappointing experience selling a project boat.

The brokerage has grown over the last two decades through dedicated attention to details and enthusiastic references from our many happy clients…who have all become friends.
