Description

The Southerly 135RS is the top of the game for an under 50' blue water capable cruiser. Three large staterooms, two large heads, full raised deck salon, passage way galley, workbench, and easy access to the engine and generator, and center cockpit.

Accommodations

Raised Salon

The Southerly 135RS offers the very desirable Raised Salon on the port side of the main salon with bright light and panoramic views while seated. With the folding dining table the down position, it converts to an additional sleeping berth. Maple joinery throughout the interior is light and bright with teak and holly cabin soles. Main Salon and Navigation Table upholstery replaced in 2022.

Navigation Station

To starboard is the Navigation Station with a full array of Raymarine navigation electronics (new 2023) and a large chart table.

Galley

A spacious walkthrough galley is after of the nav station on the starboard side. It come equipped with double stainless steel sinks, a keel cooled refrigerator & freezer, new gimbaled induction cooktop and air fryer (2023), and lots of counter top and storage space.

Forward Cabin

The forward cabin comes with a V-berth that converted to a double, hanging locker, drawer storage, and access to the chain locker. There is a large overhead hatch which provides ample nature light and ventilation.

Forward Head

The forward head compartment has a large countertop with a basin sink mirror in integrated shower.  This head comes equipped with a composting toilet - so zero head odor.

Midships Cabin  

Midships is a large guest cabin with upper and lower berths that converts to a sofa/office space.  

Owner's Cabin

The large owner's cabin is aft and accessed from the galley. There is a large island berth, hanging locker and lots of storage. Plenty of light and ventilation is provided of a large overhead hatch and 2 opening ports..

Owner's Head

An ensuite owner's head is forward on the port side. The owner's head compartment has a large countertop with a basin sink, mirror, integrated shower and lots of storage 

Workshop

The workshop can be accessed from either the owner's head of the cockpit. There is a standup workbench, tool storage and easy access to both the engine compartment and the generator/ machinery space.

Dr. Kevin Reeds is a lifetime boating industry veteran, starting in his high school days growing up in California. Since then, he has worked at Trimble Navigation, Alcom Electronics, Santa Cruz Yachts, and in various yacht sales positions at Eastport Yachts, J/Port Annapolis, and Interyacht before coming to David Walters Yachts. Kevin is an experienced sailor with an extensive background and knowledge of blue water cruising and performance racing yachts.

As an experienced racing sailor, Kevin sailed as a Navigator for the AmericaOne syndicate during its 1999/2000 America's Cup campaign in New Zealand. He also holds the GPS patent for the Sailtrak system used by ESPN to graphically illustrate the America's Cup broadcast beginning in 1991. He is also certified by U.S. Sailing as a National Race Officer and serves as Chair of the Race Committee at the Annapolis Yacht Club.

Kevin is a former Navy Submariner who attended the U.S. Naval Academy. He holds a master's in nonprofit management from the University of Maryland and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Culture from Northeastern University.
