BROKER‘S COMMENTS

Designed by the world famous William Fife III and built at the William Fife & Son yard, MARISKA is one of only four of the famous 15m Class existing today. In total 20 of these magnificent 15m Class were built between 1908 and 1917 at which time they were the cutting edge race yachts and highly favoured by the aristocracy. MARISKA was built for A K Stothert, one of the most acclaimed sailors at the time. Bought by her current owner in 2007, MARISKA underwent an incredibly comprehensive restoration that lasted two and half years and took 25,000 man-hours. During this time, the yacht was completely stripped back to bare frames and restored from the keel up. Re-launched in September 2009, she secured two impressive second places in the Coupe d’Automne YCF and Les Voiles de St. Tropez. Since then she has continued to build a spectacular palmares that notably includes winning the 15m Class Trophy in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Having won the Giraglia, Puerto Sherry, San Remo and St Tropez during 2016 (The Grand Slam) this was a season that demonstrated the astonishing capability of this superb yacht and crew and was achieved again in 2017!
The sale of MARISKA represents an incredibly rare opportunity to own a beautifully restored and superbly documented piece of history. Not only is she one of the most beautiful yachts afloat, but also one of the most successful race boats.
MARISKA is offered fully prepared to race or to cruise, and the sophisticated race programme, logistics and expert crew who have so successfully sailed her since 2009 can be easily taken over by any Buyer with the Owner’s help. This really is an opportunity to join one of the most prestigious race classes in the world and
compete at the very top level. The history of this remarkable yacht and her restoration are superbly documented so please do get in contact to receive additional information.

RESTORATION

Mariska’s incredibly comprehensive restoration ran from 2007 to 2009 and totalled 25000 man hours. It was decided to stick to the 15m Class regulations and as closely as possible to the original design of William Fife.
A significant point is that this project was intentionally a restoration and NOT a reconstruction.
A detailed account of the restoration is available.
