A truly exceptional piece of craftsmanship from one of the finest modern American yacht builders. hull #6 of the Morris 48 series was built with a custom-designed Jim Taylor keel drawing 8’ 8” and carbon fiber Hall Spars mast, Major refit 2021/2022.

Description

Accommodations


The interior layout accommodates 7 people in 3 private sleeping areas, with 2 additional berths on settees that pull out to provide comfortable single berths. All berths feature lee cloths. A large head forward to port is connected to the master cabin. A second head aft includes a separate stall shower, which can double as a wet locker on deliveries. The U-shaped galley is aft of the forward cabin & head to port, with a settee & storage opposite to starboard. The dinette & nav station, under the raised portion of the salon, have abundant light & visibility to the outside. Espar diesel heating. 

Interior Finish:

The interior of the boat is finished in a Herreshoff style w/white bulkheads & contrasting satin-varnished cherry trim, including doors, handrails (4), hull sides and headliner. 

Teak & holly cabin sole w/latched lift-outs for service access below (entire cabin sole removable for complete access to bilges).

Lee cloths on starboard settee, port aft cabin berth, V-berth & starboard aft cabin berth

Ultrasuede cushions w/slip covers for all

Cushion foam upgraded (Visco-Elastic) on all sleeping berths

All interior lighting upgraded to LED

Owner’s cabin with V-berth, insert filler, and enough storage for liveaboard cruising.

Main Salon: 


Large comfortable elevated U-shaped dinette to port aft of galley, maximizing views from deck salon. Outboard settee slides out to create sea berth. Flatscreen TV (2021) above and copious storage under and outboard of dinette seating (including additional freezer).

Starboard settee forward of raised salon opposite galley has pull-out to make wider berth, 2 storage lockers above backrest fore & aft w/varnished sheathing between, hull port light w/cherry trim ring centered between lockers, bookshelf built in below, large raised windows, 2 overhead hatches 


Navigation Station:


Forward facing nav station w/opening top for chart storage, 2 drawers, book storage, upholstered bench seat w/storage drawers under 

Custom electrical panel for 12V & 110V systems mounted in locker outboard, shelving & cabinet for mounting electronics (see electronics section) 


Port Aft Cabin: 


Double quarter berth offset to port w/lee cloths, generous storage, small overhead hatch, 2 fans, 12 volt outlets


Starboard Aft Cabin (captain/off-watch): 

Single berth w/shelf above, hull port light, cherry hull sheathing, storage, remote engine and generator panel, emergency bilge pump


Aft Head & Shower: 

Aft head with separate shower compartment directly at base of companionway, perfect for removing wet gear on the off-watch

Hull Construction: 

2013 Flag Blue Awlgrip hull, white Awlgrip boot stripe, recessed cove stripe w/gold leaf detail; white gel coat deck w/tan non-skid 

Bottom stripped, new barrier coat and bottom paint winter 2020/21

Hull is laminate of Kevlar/E-glass glass laminate layer in both outer & inner skin over 1 Corecell core using Hydrex vinylester resin 

Hull deck joint is solid glass hull shelf bedded to deck w/3M 5200 & mechanically fastened every 4"

Sugar scoop stern with carbon rub strip on aft edge

Integrated steps to cockpit, mount for swim ladder

Deck is laminate of E-glass over 2.54 cm Corecell core utilizing Hydrex vinylester resin 


All deck fasteners drilled & tapped; hardware is bedded & bolted through deck w/backing plates 

Teak dorade boxes with s/s cowl vents, removable s/s guards, screens & sliding draft controls 

6 Manship s/s hatches w/Ocean-Air Skyscreens 

4 Bent glass laminated safety glass windows port & starboard, 3 flat glass laminated safety glass forward, upgraded Low-E glass for salon windows 

All exterior teak stripped & recoated with 8 base coats of Epifanes; fresh top-coat applied June 2023

All teak has custom sun covers, including toe rails
