Interior

The interior of the IP 445 features a bright main salon, a linear galley, a nav station with a captain’s chair, two heads with enclosed showers, and two comfortable staterooms with island berths.

There is quality teak joinery throughout the boat and approximately 7' of headroom. Trident is equipped with a three zone, 33,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioning/heat system. There is plenty of light and ventilation with fifteen stainless steel ports, 6 large windows, six opening hatches.

The spacious salon has two full-length settees, covered with tan Ultra Leather upholstery. The port settee converts to a double berth and a large dining table folds down from the forward bulkhead to reveal a wine rack. The table opens and extends all the way from the starboard settee to the port settee.

The navigation station is exceptional! It is adjacent to the companionway steps on the port side of the boat. It features a high-back swivel captain's chair, a large chart table with storage below, shelving and plenty of room for electronics.

The secure and functional galley is aft of the main salon to starboard and centerline. Please see the following equipment list. There are two large Corian counters on either side of the galley. The galley is secure, well-lit and has plenty of ventilation with opening ports. It features a top loading freezer, top loading refrigerator, double stainless-steel sink, Force 10 stove/oven, microwave oven, pull out trash bin, built-in dish racks, cutlery drawer, cabinets, and a water purifier.

The cabins are located forward and aft and are equally appealing. Both cabins have double island berths with pillow-top mattresses, separate HVAC thermostats, hanging lockers, cabinets with shelves and en-suite heads with enclosed showers. The base panels of the berths lift, with the assistance of gas support struts, to reveal a large storage area that is perfect for linens, blankets, and towels. The aft stateroom has a seat on the starboard side and there is a access door to the aft storage area (garage).

The aft and forward heads feature Corian countertop, stainless steel sinks, separate shower stalls with folding acrylic doors and molded seats, a hatch, and a port. The forward head is accessible from both the salon and the forward stateroom.

The center cockpit 445 possesses all the exemplary qualities that have earned Island Packet a worldwide reputation as the leader of cruising boat design and construction. Naval architect Bob Johnson and the Island Packet design team have created the 445 by combining the superior comfort, ease of use, seakeeping, and safety attributes that are the hallmark of every Island Packet, along with innovative new features and stunning good looks that will further reinforce Island Packet's position as America's Cruising Yacht Leader.

Tankage and storage on the 445 is exceptional. All tanks are centrally located below the cabin sole, benefiting stability and interior storage space elsewhere in the yacht with minimal effect on trim. Every detail, from the geared rack and pinion steering system to the swedged and threaded fuel hose fittings, is carefully chosen for its important contribution to long term quality and reliability. Numerous details like magnetic reed bilge pump switches and thru-bolts with lock nuts on both seacocks and prop shaft couplings typify the approach to building every aspect of an Island Packet. Heavy duty, high output alternators with Digital Duo-Charge controllers, premium pre-tinned wiring, and large capacity absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries reflect the many quality features built into the 445 that help ensure the owner years of comfortable, trouble-free cruising.

Matt Malatich, CPYB is the Managing Broker of S&J Yachts in Charleston, S.C., where he is a standout in helping clients navigate the acquisition or disposition process of luxury cruising yachts.

Boating has always been at the forefront of Matt’s life. From growing up on boats, to pleasure cruising and racing, to watching his own kids learn the lines, Matt’s love of the sea is woven throughout the canvas of his life.

It’s no wonder that a heart for the water, a head for business and a degree from Hamilton College led Matt to launch his career in 1996 as a yacht broker with J/Port and then Crusader Yacht Sales in Annapolis, MD. In this role, he sold brokerage boats and new J/Boats, Ericsons, Pacific Seacraft, Sagas and Tiaras.

Shortly after being named Salesperson of the Year for Pacific Seacraft, Matt returned to his hometown of Princeton, N.J., in 1999 to expand his professional experience to commercial real estate. Matt served as a commercial real estate broker for CBRE and Preferred Real Estate Investments, where he focused on acquisitions of large corporate-owned properties for redevelopment as well as leasing of office properties and due diligence of large-scale dispositions.

Matt transitioned to the role of Assistant Director of Leasing for Hilton Realty, a fully integrated real estate development and management company in 2006. For nearly a decade, Matt’s primary focus was on marketing and leasing industrial, office and retail properties to large banks, law firms, technology firms, pharmaceutical companies, national retailers as well as mom and pop stores.

In 2015, Matt’s genuine affinity toward boating prompted him to make a sea change personally and professionally. Trading bricks for boats, Matt returned to the yacht brokerage business as the Managing Broker for S&J Yacht’s Charleston office.

Today, drawing from nearly 25 years of combined experience in yacht brokerage and commercial real estate, Matt has built a reputation for his proven ability to assist buyers and sellers of upscale power and cruising sailboats throughout North America and Europe.

As a seasoned broker, Matt understands that buying and selling can be both one of the most euphoric and stressful times in a boater’s journey, and views representation and guidance of his clients’ dreams as a true privilege.

Matt’s calm and easy demeanor provides clients with a steady hand at the wheel to help them obtain the best value for their dream yacht, as well as assisting sellers with a smooth sale of their vessel when the time is right. He is well positioned to be an advocate throughout the entire transaction process by prescreening boats (including obtaining their true histories), facilitating showings, navigating financing options, insurance needs, surveys and the closing process.
