Description

Serrano is a VERY RARE 1988 Hans Christian 45 Independence trawler, one of only 19 made!

As you walk up to Serrano on the dock, the first thing that will strike you is her proud, seaworthy hull. She was build by the famous sail boat company, Hans Christian. As such she is laid out to maximize space on a very efficient hull!

When you board her from the stern, through the opening door off of the teak swim platform you will find yourself in the cockpit area. The flooring here is teak and this area is also partially covered by the overhanging boat deck to help protect from sun and the elements. This is the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee or a sundowner with you crew.

As you move forward from the cockpit you enter a door and find yourself in the lower salon/galley/dinette area. There are two built in barrel chairs to starboard just forward of the U-Line ice maker with a convenient cabinet located in between the chairs. Forward from there is another large cabinet with a counter top and plenty of storage. At the far end of this counter top you will also see the upgraded shore power panel. The current owner upgraded the AC power supply to the vessel with the addition of a 240 volt 50 AMP shore power cord and system, eliminating the old twin 30 amp cords. This will ensure on the hottest of days there is ample current to operate all the AC system and other electrical loads without issue! Finally there is also a 30 inch Samsung smart TV mounted on the port side wall for viewing your favorite sports events or TV shows. TV reception is courtesy of a KVH satellite TV dome.

Looking to port and aft, you will see a large, fiddled galley table providing a large surface for 5 or 6 people to sit for dinner, board games or just a great conversation space. More storage space can be found under the cushions. Forward from here is the large, U-shaped galley. It features a large refrigerator freezer, plenty of counter space, a deep, double bowl stainless sink, plenty of undercounter storage space, a propane Princess three burner cooktop with oven as well as a micro-wave oven. All windows in this area are also of the opening type allowing you to take advantage of a nice breeze or fair weather. Finishing off this area is a beautiful oil lamp over the dinette area and a classic, bead style ceiling giving this area a very cozy and nautical feel.

Moving up 4 steps from the salon area brings you to the wheel house. This area has a large destroyer type steering wheel, the same beautiful wooden floors found in the salon, reverse raked forward looking windows that help to eliminate glare from the sun and doors on both port and starboard side, again with opening windows. There are also two large ceiling hatches to provide ambient light and can also be opened to provide ventilation. There is a very comfortable bench seat in the aft portion of this area that can also serve duty as a pilot berth for longer, overnight passages. Making this area more user friendly is a large wooden table that can be folded back when not needed at full size. The AC/DC breaker panel is located here as well as a functional Furuno CRT radar that is located next to a Garmin GPS Map 1040 touch screen chart plotter. A Robertson wired remote autopilot control allows the Captain freedom to move about and still have control or the autopilot. Communication is made possible with an Icom ic-m710 SSB radio as well as a Standard Horizon VHF radio. Located on the aft, port side book shelf is a redundant Garmin GPS Map 76c should you have an issue with the primary system. You will also find complete gauges for the Lehman engine main, showing 1481 hours (the actual engine hours are 4000), here as well as the control panel for the Northern Lights generator, again complete with all gauges and showing 2016 hours of use. Right next to these are the controls for the Vetus bow thruster, the tank tender gauge system and the remote panel for the newer ProMariner battery charging system. Lastly is a Sony Bluetooth stereo that is also Sirius XM compatible. There is also plenty of storage for navigational equipment, chart books, etc.

Back in the salon area, going down 4 stairs as you move forward brings you to the accommodations level. As you move forward, you will come to a pocket door on the port side of the hallway. Inside this cabin you will find two single berths with plenty of storage. Across the hall, behind another sliding door, is a third cabin/head area this is also idea for storage..

As you move to the bow of the boat you enter the master stateroom. This area has several skylight prisms, two large opening hatches for ventilation, its own dedicated AC system with reverse heat, two large hanging lockers, a make-up/desk area, custom wood book shelves holding all the ships manuals, an island queen berth as well as an ensuite head. The head features an opening ceiling hatch with frosted glass, a VacuFlush toilet and a large shower with a big teak bench for sitting on should you have to bathe on rough seas!

The boat deck features a Bass Boat Hard Body yachtsman 10 with a 15 HP mercury outboard. The tender is launched with a tube style davit system. Forward of the tender storage area is a second command station with full engine controls and instrumentation.

The lazarette area is accessed via a hatch in the aft deck sole. Inside you will find ready access to the steering gear, ships spares and a large, open storage area.

The engine room is accessed through multiple hatches in the salon sole. In this area you will be happy to see excellent accessibility to all sides of the Lehman 130 main engine and transmission. On the starboard side you will see the Magnum 2812 2800 watt inverter connected to 8 six volt batteries. Aft in this space is the Northern Lights 8KW generator. The engine also has an upsized 250 amp alternator with a spare.

In summary, you can see Serrano is designed for and ready for her next extended cruise. The bottom paint was done in September of this year. Don't miss this opportunity to own a rare, very well designed and maintained cruising vessel!
