Description

While all of the Grand Banks Eastbay 49's have always been highly sought after and popular, "Sun Catcher" is an ESPECIALLY FINE example of the more rare Salon Express (SX) model with the factory hard-back salon enclosure vs the soft-back canvas enclosure found on the Hardtop Express (HX) model. This feature provides for a "true salon" which is finished to a much higher degree than that of the soft-back models (which are more exposed to the elements), and the space can be locked for added security and comfort.

(This is a Preliminary Listing- many more photos and specifications to come. The yacht is just now being commissioned for the 2023 Season) -April 2023.

Vessel Walkthrough

The Salon Express version of the 49 Eastbay offers a comfortable air conditioned or heated salon/helm area. A large L-Settee is to port. It's forward length has been aligned with the port bench seat that raises and lowers electrically. When in the lowered position the bench seat becomes part of the settee and converts to a sectional. The bench seat backrest swings forward to allow comfortable seating in the down/sectional position. When raised, the bench seat is at same level as STIDD helm seat opposite on starboard. A custom teak entertainment center with electronic pop-up flatscreen TV and bar is to starboard with a small stainless steel sink aft of helm.

The galley is down 4 steps, is a large U-shape and has plenty of counter space and cabinet storage. Opposite the galley is an office with desk, chair and storage cabinets. A large teak cabinet forward has louvered doors and covers a combination washer/dryer.

Down the companionway is a guest stateroom on port with twin berths and guest/day head across the hall on stbd. The master stateroom is forward with a true island queen berth. This stateroom has been enlarged and offers a very nice vanity/make-up area with a stool that swings out for comfort. Aft is a very large hanging locker on the aft bulkhead. Again, this rare layout gives the master stateroom considerably more room than the typical layout found on her sisterships. One of the many features that really set "Sun Catcher" apart!

The master head is to starboard. The guest and master head share a large stall shower with doors going into each head from the shower. There is a shower curtain that covers each teak door when in use so the wood stays dry.

All in all a very livable layout for any type of cruising!! Beautifully done!!

Notes

The Grand Banks Eastbay 49' is arguably the finest and one of the most beautiful yachts to come from the boards of C. Raymond Hunt and Associates. Her design has defined the modern downeast cruiser, with most other builders trying to emulate the yacht since her introduction. Graceful sheer and moderate bow flare are reminiscent of Maine lobster boats, while her modified deep-V hull with computer designed lifting strakes are at the forefront of modern underbody design. Her twin 705 hp Caterpillar C12s engines (only 996 original hours) provide ample, reliable power and speed, and she cruises easily at 25 knots. The interior accommodations are well designed and provide a bright and airy ambiance. The galley like other living spaces is efficient with ample storage and top of the line appliances. Flawless joinery and elegant upholstery throughout have been refreshed and well maintained, and the vessel is professionally cleaned and managed. "Sun Catcher" is modern, fast, dry, stable, and beautifully detailed, as one would expect in a Grand Banks yacht. This boat is in turn-key condition and will readily appeal to a discerning yachtsman. If you wish to cruise in luxury and turn heads in every harbor, "Sun Catcher" should be at the top of your list!
